Is that a feeling of a fact?

feeling of a fact

So often we conflate emotion and reason. They both play such a huge role in our daily development and growth but it is important that we are able to objectively look at each.

An indicator that we might have lost objectivity is when we are looking over our nutrition and say things such as “I feel like I’m doing everything right and not seeing results” or “I feel like nothing will ever work for me”.

Feelings are important. They should guide us in our relationships and passions. Feelings drive us. Yet confusing them with facts can muddy the waters of the sea of decisions.

When we are faced with important decisions we need to take our feelings into account. We need to understand how emotion may impact our happiness. Yet we can’t use feelings as metrics of data. They aren’t objective. They aren’t consistent. They aren’t final.

So the next time you look at a problem or obstacle that you are having trouble overcoming, look at reasons that might be holding you back. Then look at your answers and ask yourself, “is this a fact, or a feeling?”.
