To track or not?

If weighing & measuring food was all it took to reach your goals, you wouldn’t be reading this.

Setting a goal is a tricky thing. Especially when it’s related to our bodies. It can be a jumping off point to lead us to better health or it can be an act of desperation from feeling a lack of control. And the long term outcome is often a byproduct of the genesis.

The difference between “I need some numbers to hit because otherwise I will eat everything” and “having a solid estimate of my input can help me determine how to guide my lifestyle decisions” is huge.

The former is a declaration of distrust with ourselves. You can’t be trusted so you need an authority to reign you in. It’s a knee jerk response rooted heavily in our history of morality around food and weight. (This is what ppl mean when discussing the harms of diet culture)

The latter is simply recognizing that we need adequate fuel for our training and lifestyle and wish to align our choices. This will lead to congruence and living by our values.

One is sustainable, one isn’t.
