What matters most

Summer is always a time for social gatherings and events and parties. This year, while things may be different, they haven’t stopped. As the country begins to open back up so many of us will crave social interaction more than ever. Months of isolation has only served to intensify that need.

Social gatherings don’t have to mean unstructured eating and drinking alcohol but for many it does. And that’s okay. But we must always understand the outcomes of our actions.

For many of us, socially distanced interaction will have emotional and mental benefits that are immeasurable. But if taken on mindlessly they may lead to an increase in bodyweight. At very least we should probably suspend expectations of fat loss.

There are no right or wrong answers, but happiness is often predicated on lining up expectations with reality. And the reality is that if we forego our flexibly structured fat loss plan for more social freedom we also (most likely) forego our fat loss. But that’s also okay.
