In a time where we look for motivation in an Instagram caption, I think it’s important we define what motivation truly is.

Motivation: the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way.

Motivation is not simply something that waxes and wanes, or a tank that goes empty like your car. No, motivation is instead something that exists on a spectrum from amotivation to internal regulation. Here’s everything you need to know about motivation.
