Why “All or Nothing” Is Holding You Back

January 13, 2025
all or nothing
January is often fueled by an “all or nothing” mindset: This is the year I get it together. I’ll stick to the plan perfectly, or I won’t do it at all.

But here’s the problem: life doesn’t work that way. There are busy days, unexpected challenges, and moments when motivation wavers. And if your plan only works when things are perfect, it won’t work long-term.

What if, instead of going all in, you embraced the middle ground?

• Didn’t hit your step goal? A 10-minute walk still counts.

• Had an indulgent dinner? Balance it with a lighter, nourishing meal tomorrow.

• Skipped a workout? Stretch before bed to reconnect with your body.

“All or nothing” is a trap. It convinces you that small efforts don’t matter, when in reality, they’re the foundation of progress.

Consistency beats perfection every time. This year, aim for “something” instead of “everything.” Small actions add up—and they keep you moving forward, even when life gets messy.
