Transformation Tuesday

November 24, 2020

Just two weeks prior to this picture we were in McCarren Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn celebrating with tens of thousands of like minded citizens. An impromptu party with dancing and champagne bottles being popped and a full on DJ Set. In the park. A celebration of the Fall of Trump. A uniquely New York moment. 2 weeks later we were spending the day raking leaves in our new home in Charleston, SC. Another unique experience. Was one “better” than another?

Life is about experience. About failure and triumph and hardship and celebration. There are no differences. Will one be more memorable? Maybe? It def looks different for the gram. But in reality the experience of raking leaves with my wife and dog in a new place, far from the City that we will forever call home, was one that I will cherish. It might seem small but learning to take great pleasure from small moments and physical labor has been a bellwether moment in time and change. It is in these moments that life is truly its best.

I miss New York. I will likely always miss New York. But at this moment in time it’s important for my family that we change. It’s important that we slow down. It’s important that I break my identity away and release that with which I had become attached. And it’s time to create new experiences where we are at the center and not always competing with the Greatest City on Earth. Here’s to a new beginning in Charleston, SC. A little bit of Southern Gothic.
